Lifta was a rich, successful agricultural Palestinian village before it was occupied in 1948. After that, Jewish immigrants from North Africa were housed there and these days, the village is abandoned and it's mostly a pile of stones and broken houses.
I wanted to give the place its recognition back by creating a "classic" city/village symbol using coat of arms.
The banner and the invitation say "We're open" and the opening hours, both in Arabic and Hebrew, but as you can see, all the Arabic is covered by the green paint.
Who was the museum opened for? Can Palestinian artists present there? If they will, can their family and friends come and see their art? Is it enough to use Arabic on the banner to say "we recognize"?
